i think they did disappear. 2 reasons: 1. no reason for semi-post-apocalyptic earth if half of humanity disappears (ok, maybe a few nuclear power plants out of control) and humanity disappeared at random, meaning density fluctuated by same amount all over Earth - this is seen in the first part, especially when Ant-man returns 2. when Banner brings everybody back, Ant-man sees birds populating trees outside the Avengers facility (i'm not sure about this, but perhaps the trees reappeared, have to watch it again to confirm)
