They are stiff plastic ABS and took paint well. Wish they were aluminum but they took paint well.

cut a hole in the hood, and riveted to the hood to make them functional

Works as actual hood vents for cheap!

I had an overheating problem in my 2000 Jeep XJ. I ended up cutting a hole in the front of my hood and used JB weld on these to cover it up and prevent excess water and dirt from getting in the compartment. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. I also used one inch spacers on the hood hinges to create a gap where the hood meets the windshield to allow the air to flow out the back of the compartment. So far I have had no issues with heat after installing These! The end result may not be the prettiest thing in the world, but it gets my beat up old rig down the road without overheating every 10 minutes!

Surprisingly decent!

I cut the holes into the hood, and they push cold air onto the intake, they have been holding for three years now, really impressed, I was under the impression they would fall off after a month but they are still holding strong, the plastic is thin but I mean just don't sit on it? Also the tape, its still holding strong, I assume as long as there is a place for the air to go the 3m strip wont break, they fit pretty flush and I like how they accent the painters tape racing stripes.
